Guard Dogs

A story by Tw, Jr - [who is {C} to his parents, so there. :P ]   
Daddy was kind of sad the other day. He said it was a good kind of sad, but I'm not sure what he meant. Gramma gave him a flag, and daddy said it was my great-granddaddys flag, the one they covered his coffin with after he died.  Daddy never got to meet him, but said he seemed to have taken taken after him in a lot of ways. Great-granddaddy wore a uniform like daddy wore, and daddy said he'd been in "one of the good fights, when the folks were pretty sure what it was all about.'

Littleboat and the LightOkay, so we're hearing the sotry of the boat and the beacon   So there was this littleboat, who braved the oceans, leaving the safe harbors she was expected to stay in.  She often met other boats to travel with, seeing this port, anchoring at that one, all the while, making her way on the larger waterway.  One day, as she traveled, she noticed that they were passing a small, slightly worn out, shoal beacon, who sent her a friendly Bing from his fog-bells.  So, anyways, the littleboat was surprised that the Light simply rang his bells to her, just like he did any other boat that passed his way. He didn't flash to he Littleboat and the Light
